The DailyKos is too robust for any one smear campaign to sink the site. But there is no need to see Jerome & Kos have their credibility questioned when they did nothing wrong.
Further, the liberal blogosophere should use this opportunity to our favor. Jerome & Kos should use the spotlight to attack Bush, Williams, and the Republican noise machine.

Everyone will want to know who are the two unnamed bloggers. Kos gets a platform, and can then question the bonafides of every RW blogger and psuedo journalist out there.
There is nothing to lose, as they hate and fear us anyway. Might as well stoke that fire...drive the day of reckoning ever closer. Make it a duck pit day to remember.
Now with new improved snark !!

They also feat DEAN. Just like they feared him facing off against Bush, they fear him running the DNC.

If Jerome & Kos act now, they'll be quoted in attack mode in the major publications. If they aggressively pursue op-ed columns, they'll have an attack column published in a major newspaper or two. If they instruct Kossacks to go after media outlets that pick-up the story, they'll turn a negative, a "story" about liberal bloggers "on the take," -- into a positive, an opportunity to attack John Thune, Armstrong Williams and the mainstream meadia.

A fine beginning. But not enough. Demand the stage. Ask to go on CNN, Fox News, etc. Ask to pen an op-ed in the Post. Or the Times.
Use this opportunity to keep Williams' payments in the news. (Particularly important given Bush's recent decision to push for expansion of NCLB to high schools).

I'm in the camp that says this is outright libel, and Kos should not be shy. He should demand the retraction, and he should use the "L" word

Or a satire, a "Yacht Boat Veterans for Truth" that noted Bush's activities during the war.

I'd call that a reaction.
