    •  Too little, too late (none / 1)

Kerry reacted forcefully, but days after the fact.

If Jerome & Kos act now, they'll be quoted in attack mode in the major publications. If they aggressively pursue op-ed columns, they'll have an attack column published in a major newspaper or two. If they instruct Kossacks to go after media outlets that pick-up the story, they'll turn a negative, a "story" about liberal bloggers "on the take," -- into a positive, an opportunity to attack John Thune, Armstrong Williams and the mainstream meadia.

        •  Got it. (none / 1)

Kos has reacted forcefully. But his initial reaction was to attack Zephyr. And to continue hammering Williams.

A fine beginning. But not enough. Demand the stage. Ask to go on CNN, Fox News, etc. Ask to pen an op-ed in the Post. Or the Times.

Use this opportunity to keep Williams' payments in the news. (Particularly important given Bush's recent decision to push for expansion of NCLB to high schools).

          •  Not ask, demand (none / 0)

As in, demand a public, abject retraction or, better, the opportunity to respond on air.

I'm in the camp that says this is outright libel, and Kos should not be shy.  He should demand the retraction, and he should use the "L" word

    •  Imagine, for example (none / 1)

if a day after Swift Boats hit the air, the Kerry campaign funded a "Purple Heart Veterans for Truth" ad attacking Bush for failing to fulfill his national guard duties.

Or a satire, a "Yacht Boat Veterans for Truth" that noted Bush's activities during the war.
