      I Diaried on this the other day without getting much attention, but I think that's what's going on.
      Bush renominates rabidly conservative judges that have already been blocked--waste of time, but a news maker.
      Bush calls for expanding the Patriot act in Gonzales' nomination--there isn't much support for this, and trying to get it on the front burner this week is suspicious.
      Heck, bush probably ordered the bombing of the ex prime minister in Lebanon to distract things. Failing that, he's certainly able to recall our Syrian envoy, which by itself is a newsmaker. Please, the teleconference was invented so people across the globe don't have to get on an airplane to "consult," which is the reason given for recalling the Syrian envoy.

    As much as this administration has botched our national security, both on the foreign policy front and right here at home, I think another terror attack is inevitable. With our spies in the far corners of the earth busy torturing people and creating more terrorists, they are too busy to actually gather any information on the terrorists that already exist.
    While raising the terror alert every now and again, say right after the Democratic convention, is political, so is another attack. The lulled masses are starting to wake up and say, WTF? How much is this shit costing us? I'm watching for breaking news of a "twarted attack" to cushion the blow when the real one hits.
