    And I'm not saying you should, but if you believe him it was 9/11 that caused him to move to DC. So IF that's true, we might ask what would take 2 months to set up (until he gave notice). And we might ask why someone would want to hire a gay-bashing fake reporter in the context of 9/11.

      1. Even if you accept for a moment that the "defining event" was simply 9/11, this still does not explain how Guckert got into the White house. A lot of people made life/career-changing decisions as a result of 9/11, but somehow that did not involve a meteoric rise to power and privilege. Instead, a lot of these people enlisted in the army and later ended up in caskets.

      2. So, explain this - a guy that has been in the military responds to 9/11 in such a strong way that he decides to change his life completely. And what does he do - does he (re-)enlist in the military, in any position that he could be most useful with his apparent prior military experience - no - instead he decides to go into politics and (continue with) military-themed porn websites and escort jobs.

      Sorry, any way you look at his 9/11 story, it sounds fishy.

        First, he probably wasn't in the military. I asked the same question--why didn't he re-enlist--but that seems moot now that the Marines have no memory of him.

        But the reason why 9/11 might explain Gannon's career change is that it might explain why GOPUSA decided it needed a White House "correspondant." Or it might explain why GOPUSA was doing what it was doing in the first place. Or it might explain why the White House found a need for a ringer in the press corps. Or it might explain why the White House has engaged in a policy of deceit of the media for a very long time.

        In other words, if Gannon came to DC in response to someone's bidding or as part of a larger program, then it is worthwhile remembering that it was started in "response" to 9/11.

          GOPUSA is a Houston-based operation. Talon has had an open invitation to simply submit a sample of your writing if you want to work as a volunteer.

          9/11 may have encouraged the guy who ran GOPUSA to take on a Washington person, and I can see GG having previously submitted a sample and being willing to move. Right ideology, right place, right time. (Pun intended.)

          In management decision-making it is called the garbage can method of decison-making. There are solutions floating around, and there are problems floating around, and sometimes someone connects two of them, puts them together and implements the solution.

          Leads to all kinds of erroneous conspiracy theories. [grin]

        In that context, dressup and sex in military drag makes total sense (and dollars too.) War porn, porn porn, same diff with these guys.

      Reading the timeline, it seems like 9/11 could be important. But it may have been important to his benefactor instead of to JG himself.
