that's a lot of work putting that all together!

Now I've got something to send to all my relatives who're whining about Granholm (though not as much now, after the debates)

    Thanks!!!

    •  Michigan needs Granholm because her opponent (0+ / 0-)

represents everything about the Republican Party that has to be undone for Michigan's wellbeing. DeVos is a total believer in the Might Makes Right fantasy, because he and his family lied and pushed their way to success with Amway.

DeVos would govern like the lord he imagines himself to be. In Vermont, we have a less toxic version, Rick Tarrant, a self-made gazillionaire with an ego that believes he was born to rule, and imagines he could jump into the Senate from his CEO seat instead of our Bernie Sanders. But Devos' ego and claims show Tarrant for lesser god he is.

DeVos is one of the real creeps in American politics, and I hope, for the State of Michigan, where I grew up and went to college, that my friends and relatives still in Michigan will have Governor Granholm back in office handily.

all I heard again and again, is how bad Granholm was, how she lost jobs, and was terrible with the economics.

That tune has slowly, but surely shifted over the last 6 months. The more Michigan sees of DeVos, the less they like.

I have a feeling that they'll stick with Jennifer.

What gets me is the "do-nothing" tag.  She has a record she can point to, and it largely conforms to her "big picture" voting promises.  Most every politician says a bunch of crap they want to do.  Then, reality and changing conditions hit, and my key is to sort out if key promises get lost in the shuffle.  For a hoot or good cry, read Bush's promises in 2000.  DeVos was talking "a billion here, a billion there"-type tax cuts, but now admits he really can't do much in this particular area (and of course, still doesn't say how he'd fill in the gap for deficits he'd cause, but that's SOP for the GOP these days):

Maybe that "do-nothing" slant comes from her having been hamstrung on so many fronts.  I really don't think people 'get' how screwed up other branches of government are around here.  The Republican state legislature is incompetent when not malignant.  Key negotiated-upon clauses in bills get lost or mangled.  At first, Granholm would accuse them on playing politics, and they'd say it was just an accident or mistake.  The more it'd come up though, the more they make mistakes neither side would've wanted, the more it became clear they simply weren't on the ball.  They're young to their districts and their jobs owing to term limits.  But, owing to jerrymandering, few are in danger of losing their jobs which is.  And don't get me started about Engler crowd in the judiciary -- a bunch of petty Scalia wanna-bes.  But, we don't get much news coverage about this stuff, and most every incumbent is safe.

Maybe it just comes from people who expect our governor to take over the Big Three if they act like idiots again and again, who've given up on market after market for short-term stock price gain.  What do you do if you're the #1 and #2 lending institutions in the world?  You stop doing as much of that so you can focus on "core business".  What foresight!
