Here are the 11 closest states: Wisconsin, 0.38% (BLUE) Iowa, 0.67% (Red) New Mexico, 0.79% (RED) New Hampshire, 1.37% (BLUE) Ohio, 2.11% (RED) Pennsylvania, 2.50% (BLUE) Nevada, 2.59% (RED) Michigan, 3.42% (BLUE) Minnesota, 3.48% (BLUE) Oregon, 4.16% (BLUE) Colorado, 4.67% (RED)
They are very close; 6 of them are Democratic wins. Its a lot of unwarranted hubris to nominate Hillary (or Obama), IMO. I don't see either of them doing better than Kerry and some of those BLUE states they could lose.

Obama or Edwards could pick up states because they attract a lot of female voters. Also, both Obama and Edwards' kitchen-table economic issues are attractive to non-voters. The other key is the YOUTH vote. We will expand the youth vote dramatically in '08, and it breaks largely for the Dems. Both Obama and Edwards should be able to inspire the young 'uns. HRC, not so much.
Lest we not forget, HRC is LETHAL to the rest of the Democrats running for election that day in Red States.

Hillary's identification with game censorship would make her nomination a partybuilder for Libertarians and Greens.

I'm hoping we nominate Richardson. He would SURELY bring in New Mexico and Colorado, probably Florida.
And Kathleen Sibelius for Veep, bring in Iowa, Missouri, possibly Kansas, Ohio....
