Here Markos says that nobody closes an account but him and that he reviews the auto bans himself.  On close scrutiny I have no reason to disbelieve him.

Over there perhaps as many as a dozen or 2 'editors' or moderators all have the power to blam and some are very intolerant of dissent.  It is not at all community based, ratings are OFF.

During the Pie Wars, those who left did so voluntarily.  If there is a dKos equivalent to the 'Augustine' incident, it would be the 'Purge' of the tinfoil hats- The conspiracists by kos (storyonly, one of the 670 comments hinks up my browser).

It was... not the best thing I've seen on this site, but most of those purged who requested reinstatement were granted it.  We'll see what happens over there, if say Barb gets her account back.
