At what point do you respect the feelings of the people involved?

Never? Then don't fucking bitch about the strong reaction.

You are type of hypocrite I can not stand. I don't mind you standing up if it is what you want to do. But then take the fucking heat and stop bitching about it.

This site is really be filled with whiny tittty ass babies I have ever seen.

Don't get yourself all riled up.

I'll assume all your questions are rhetorical and you don't want to discuss this rationally.

i don't see the big deal in having interest in a general friendster-type profile background on someone whose opinions you read weekly and take seriously

slim isn't "demanding" to know, he's asking.

if dark syde chooses not to provide the info, thats fine.

i fail to see privacy concerns or how he is a "hypocrite" or "whiny ass baby"

i just don't get the "kill the questioner" mentality when the questioner is clearly not a hostile op

The interesting thing about this entire uproar isn't the denial of basic, general background info on posters, it's the vitriolic reaction against those asking (in good faith) for that information.

          the

reaction against those asking (in good faith) for that information.

is due to the inabilities of those asking the question to accept NO as an answer.

The reaction is based on people getting irrationally riled up over vague background information.  The privacy argument has no weight, and pointing that out is met with a hilarious amount of hostility.

Like I said, not trying to cause trouble.  Just curious, in a perfectly innocent, not-an-undercover-redstater kind of way.

Apparently you think I'm asking supersecret, inappropriate and rude questions.

I'm not a redstater trying to track down DS.  I am just a fan who would like to confirm that DS has an actual background in science, rather than a lifelong strong interest but no real credentials.

the case that vague background information isn't enough to out someone.  I guarantee you that now that I've posted vague chatty stuff on C&J about my kids, pets, and gender, that if I said anything at all about what kind of work I do, or what I had studied in college that it would be extremely easy for my compatriots here to know precisely who I am.  Now that may not be a problem for some.  For others it may be a HUGE problem for a variety of reasons (job related for instance).  And for others, it may just make them feel less free to share information, get support or whatever else, if they're too worried about the outside DKos implications.  It should be an individual choice how much to share based on individual situations.  Persisting in implying it's never a big deal, or that those who choose not to share much are hiding something or being uncooperative is getting tiresome.

especially when over at UTI, which DS links to in every sig line, we find

UTI co-blogger and friend DarkSyde has this to say about himself: "I'm 42, I work out a lot, I'm a personal trainer as a hobby, I've worked mainly as an investment advisor, stocks and bonds. I've done quite a bit of sky diving. I live a few miles from the Space Center in Florida. I have a strong background in math and physics and I'm an active advocate for Evolution in the Evolution vs. Creationism issue."

Why it's not a big deal to post this one link away... who knows.

    •  Wow, having a bad day? (0+ / 0-)

I think you must be bi-polar or something.  One day you are all cute and cuddly, and the next you just fly off the handle for no reason at all.  What's wrong with asking?
