and will probably overpack and then decide as I go. I have a knee-length halter-neck dress (Laundry by Shelli Segal, purple and green and like magenta patterned), I have this, I have this though it's more day-timey, I have various evening top and pants or skirt combinations. I have other things yet to be wholly determined.
I'm really a chronic overpacker. And much will depend on my weight at that point as well.

The other dress (I have something that looks similar, but at $150, I would have lost weight to get that one!) is too dressy I think. The Heloise dress is a nice summer dress, though you're right about the daytime look. I was looking for a cocktail dress, but decided I really wanted to wear slacks. I have these cool jean-cut, boot cut satin pants, that will look awesome with the red croc mules I think I'm going to wear.
Outta here, I don't deal well with sites that condone racism.

My pants are mostly boring. Either jeans or black pants, you know? Not sure I have exactly the tops I want for evening, either. (Mmmm...more shopping.)
With the dresses, I'm going to bring them all and see how I feel. One of the things that most drives my mother nuts about me is my willingness to overdress if I feel like it - so whatever I feel most fabulous in that night will probably be what I go with. And everything else I own will be in a pile on the floor, having been tried on and rejected. And then I'll have to spend an hour ironing it all the next day.

of the black and white dress, since I'm tall it's nowhere near floor-length on me, which makes it less eveningy.

clothing-wise. Time to do some shopping, I guess.
I trust Barack Obama.

I have few opportunities to wear - most of the time that I'm dressed up it's to go to events at conservative churches, so a lot of my favorites go unseen and when I have the chance to drag them out, I jump on it a little over-eagerly.

I have all these fabulous clothes and nowhere to wear them. Even if we go to some fancy-pants dinner in Beverly Hills, I can show up in jeans and flip-flops and no one would bat an eye.

that I don't have.
I love my clothes, but they tend much more toward the "casual" than the "business." I'm sure I can dig something out of the back of the closet. If I look like I stepped out of 1990, you'll know why.

not if that outfit was being worn by Patrick Fitzgerald as he indicted Karl Rove and Dick Cheney on multiple counts of anything you care to name would I "eat [him] alive in it."

I have a hard time with what to wear too. I'm pretty sure I'm going.

I'll be alone.
And I'm not a lurker in real life though I play one on dKos. So I'm terrified that I'll get to Las Vegas and be a total sadsack, that nobody'll talk to me, and I'll have to drink alone, &., &c.
I'm sure a lot of us are having social anxieties about being there. At least I'm hoping that I'm not the only one suffering these weird worries.

But as I get older I just think, what the heck.
A lot of time I will do things by myself because my mother was the only one who could do it, my best friend and I can't even coordinate to go see a movie.
I'll go on these trips by myself though. I once went to Germany for Christmas to see a friend, but then I took the train to Paris afterward and went sightseeing for a week by myself! It great because it's cheap, you can do exactly what you want, and you do tend to meet people and talk to people that way also, locals.

I am turning in for the night. Good luck to everyone.

Everyone else will be too worried about how THEY are coming across to worry about noticing what you are thinking.

I wish I were that thin again to wear outfits like that! Oh, the good old days... I'll probably overpack, too (I usually do anyhow). I'm bringing all dressy clothes, but will try to coordinate outfits so that I can mix and match without having to take everything that I own!

I wish I felt "that thin," but I guess this feeling, like the poor, will always be with us.
