from a woman who couldn't get Plan Band then determined she needed an abortion.
This is first person about what it means to be a 42 year old mother of two who has sex with her husband and forgets her diaphram. Her physicians wouldn't prescribe Plan B for her- so she takes a chance and finds out she is pregnant. She describes what it takes to get the abortion, but also, why she needs it- medications, older mom, family is completed. This isn't punishing teen girls for stepping out and being sluts, but punishing peole trying to plan their families. This essay, which she wrote anonymously OUT of FEAR- tells the story many ordinary women in Ohio will wake up and find they are in the hands of the ultra-conservatives.
I arrived shortly before 10 a.m. in a bleak downpour, trusting that someone had recorded my appointment. I shuffled to the front door through a phalanx of umbrellaed protesters, who chanted loudly about Jesus and chided me not to go into that house of abortion. All the while, I was thinking that if religion hadn't been allowed to seep into American politics the way it has, I wouldn't even be there. This all could have been stopped way before this baby was conceived if they had just let me have that damn pill.
