but I just wanted to mention I have Conservatives Without Conscience on hold at the library. (but since I'm still waiting for Crashing the Gate, God knows when I'll get it!)
And just by chance, I got Blind Ambition at a garage sale the other day, and it's on the nightstand waiting to get started. Amazing how young every looks!

here and there. You're right about the psychic bit.
It sucks to be poor and literate. If the waiting list at the library is any sign, I'm not the only one. I waited for American Theocracy for f**ng ever.

Warren G. Harding is pretty interesting, too. Completely changed what I thought of the Harding.

...for an important message, because I don't know if John Dean will make it to the bottom. But if he reads dKos every day...
John, come on in. The water's fine. The UID "John Dean" is available. We await your comments, your diaries, and your wisdom. While it's wonderful to read your Q and A above, we at the country's most read, most popular, and most influential progressive blog would like very much to have the chance to interact with you.
Your books, editorials, and other writings demonstrate that you are already a Kossack in all but name. Please join such noted individuals as Jimmy Carter, John Kerry, Russ Feingold, John Conyers, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy, and George Lakoff in contributing to our ongoing discussion of the state of the nation directly. There is much we can learn from you, and in turn, we can probably stimulate your thought processes as well.

the day it came out, last Tuesday, and finished it last night. A truly eye-opening read. I'll be buying John Dean's other books now, but his interviews on KO (among others) have really impressed me. A man of true integrity.

that I had been trying to figure out. Mainly, how can so many Americans be so stupid. 23%. are passive authoritarians, and have to desire to live in a democratic country.
One of two books I've read this year (other being Webb's Born Fighting )that really opened my eyes about the true nature of the American people, our political system, and why it is that way.
I really hope this book is widely read and discussed. We need to understant and expose the silent Authoritarian Revolution, which should outrage true conservatives as well as liberals.
And Dean is an excellent writer who blends his own experiences with a great deal of research in a compelling way..
Thank God I'm and Olberman viewer.

You can get most any book on Zooba for $9.95 shipping included. That's it. Total is 9.95. (Disclaimer: I don't work for them, just a very happy book buyer and wanted to pass on the love!)
I have CWC on order right now after I saw John Dean on Olbermann and TDS. Definitely worthwhile reading and buying. I also got "American Theocracy" from them (although that one is a tad dense for this chick's woo-woo head! But I'm working on it!)
PLUS! You can leave comments like you do on Amazon so I say crap things about mAnn Coulter on there. Yes, and I also turn around NeoCon books at the local Barnes & Noble. (I'm low maintenance so this gives me a thrill!)

the used books section of PowellsBooks.com.
Oftentimes, you can afford to buy a book, when you get it from their used section. Just look for 'standard' as the condition - it'll be just as good as new!
Plus, order at least $50 worth, and they'll ship free (there are some restrictions though, so be sure to read the disclaimer).
Happy hunting!
