Do they have Act Blue pages? I'm in for contributing more than mojo!
by golden star on Sat Aug 19, 2006 at 05:54:38 PM PDT
I have an Act Blue site for Chris. The other candidates do not as far as I am aware. Donations can go through their campaign sites, linked in the diary.
Donations are critical. I know more about Chris' finances than the others. Eric Adams is doing well, I think. Chris gets many small contributions, but few large ones. So he definitely needs our help.

Chris is running against an extremely well financed candidate. Real estate developers have given large sums of money to this campaign. Donations are needed. Progressives say a lot. We can talk to each other. It is the people with money who are likely to control this election.

doesn't have fundraising pages available for state candidates in New York, but they do have a list of all candidates, with the ability to set up five links: Website, Donate, Volunteer, Events, and Blog.
At the moment, there are no links set up for Carl Andrews (NY-SD-20), though his name is there (and the only one listed for that seat on the Democratic side). It's worse for NY-SA-57: the only candidate listed there is Roger Green, who isn't even one of the two opponents that you listed below (Hamilton and Jeffries) -- I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to get Bill Batson up their and with as many of those links as possible (heck, you have the web site listed here!).
I realize that Act Blue would be a better resource if they did support state-level funding, but they need to set this up one state at a time, and they haven't hit New York yet. (Texas, yes; New York, not yet.)

Green is not Batson's opponent, he is running for Congress in the adjacent NY-10 district, along with Councilmember Charles Barron and and the incumbent Adolphus Towns.
And I consider myself lucky that I won't be represented by one of that unholy trio!
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

If what Act Blue has is the current state officeholders in New York, rather than the actual candidates for this year, then it isn't a very helpful or useful resource there.
Maybe someone who actually knows what's going on could check their lists and send them corrections and links?

Andrews is listed for SD-20 because he is currently the State Senator. But he is not running in that race, he is running in CD-11, Major Owens' current seat.
Green is the current Assemblyman from AD-57, but is not running in that race. He is running in CD-10 against Towns and the ever-colorful Barron.

Adams for SD-20...but Andrews is listed there because he currently holds the seat but is abandoning it for the Owens seat. It appears that for most state races, Act Blue just seeded in the incumbent names. It might be worthwhile to have someone contact them with the names of your favored candidates (and the information that the names there are of people who aren't running again) then you get your candidates there.

I have thought of it...and always have planned to do it later. Maybe I should actually do it one of these days!

I contacted them with some up to date info. THanks for making me feel like I needed to get off my ass and do that.
