we are not going to win this race. But an unexpectedly strong performance in this year will send the Dems a message, that Paul Ryan is vulnerable and can be defeated, and perhaps the Dems will find a stronger candidate next time around.
This has to be the goal is "hopeless" districts, to tear down the Rethug incumbent's facade of invinicibility.

It would take a historic Democratic wave (and some money for the Democratic nominee) to knock off Paul Ryan this year. If we never challenge him, though, he gets to sit on his warchest forever.

I have relatives in this district (fortunately, I get to live in Tammy Baldwin country), and I've been following the race. I hate to say it, but this one is a prime example of the Democratic establishment being largely clueless about how to run in primarily rural districts, and showing no great interest in doing so. Kudos to these candidates for stepping up. Find your OWN voice and your OWN message, forget the Democratic consultants, and you'll do Wisconsin's progressive tradition proud. Maybe next time, the 50-state strategy will reach into SE Wisconsin....

I hope you'll talk with your relatives about the race if they have any Democratic tendencies (especially if you think Steve Herr is the best of the bunch). At least, please tell them to vote for anyone but Jeff Thomas!

They are solid independent Dems, every one of them, and know the value of their votes....
