that there is no war. War was never declared. We are at "use of force resolution" in Iraq. If you call it a war you are using THEIR language.

From a female (D) House menber that it's time for the warlovers to vote on a new AUMF for Iraq, since the old one's waaay past it's expiration and needs a new mandate (sort of like FISA, the Geneva Conventions, and the Constitution). Sorry I don't remember specifics, but the idea is good on many levels.
turbonium, check out the diaries by thereisnospoon on this frame, and if inclined, my last two diaries have taken a similar tack, so take what you like for future efforts.
This is an important issue. America is obsessed with winning. Wars are won by killing the bad guys. Occupations are won by LEAVING.

Nice diaries, both of you! I'm glad to see that thereisnospoon's post generated some substantial dialogue.
As for future efforts...given the anemic response to this diary, I doubt I'll be doing any more serious writing on the topic. dKos is a vast ocean now, which is a testament to its influence--yet it's admittedly frustrating to watch most of what one writes here sink with hardly a ripple.
Maybe I should insult everyone and demand that Markos delete my account :-)

I've gotten involved tangentially in other blogs, and it's cool to see spinoffs like MyLeftWing, swordscrossed and Afterdowningstreet. If you feel strongly about an issue or frame, trumpet it in lots of places. I haven't been here half as long as you, but the Kos has exploded. We're still pretty good at pointing up the good stuff, but there's so much more to write and so many more writing.
