If anyone has better figures, please link them. Chile is a fairly small country though, so it wouldn't be hundreds of thousands or millions.

remember hearing a priest talk about the coup and he said over 3 thousand died in the stadium right after the initial round up.

in the initial coup. 3,100 murdered and 1,100 disappeared in the years after that. Of course Wiki lists it at 2,095 deaths and 1,102 "disappearances" and 35,000 people tortured or abused.
