Most of it is sports, and I've been cutting back in that department. In recent years, sports coverage has been dumbed down to sub-videogame levels.

it is quite feasible to get the best use out of your TV and ignore the rubbish.
For example, over the past month I managed to watch quite a few great programs while remaining nearly totally oblivious to the coverage of Ramsey and Polygamy busts. The only reason I knew about those events at all is because I would catch a glimpse of something disturbing as I flipped channels (as quickly as possible).
Bad TV is like spam in your inbox. Filter it, master it, ignore it.

Not just the usual suspects but classic films, travelogues, and series such as "Foyle's War." Best of all, they're free.

As an interim measure, I bought a foam rubber brick to throw at the screen at the appropriate moment.

Bush says that telling the lies is "hard work", but monitoring him telling them is much harder work I can assure you. I am sure I have cut off years of my own life expectancy trying to keep up with the media's mendacity.

To this day, tens of millions of Americans believe that Saddam had something to do with 9/11, Iraq had WMD, and world opinion favored our invasion of that country.

TV and I have had a casual relationship anyway. As a kid of a fifties fundie family, it wasn't allowed. So I grew up with books, with words as my source. To this day, I prefer a book. And, yeah, I'm not real fan of movies either. When I say the book was better, it means that the images my mind created were way more powerful than the dumbed-down script.
So I too watch sports. But then I got this country place where I only have satellite radio and, wow, is that powerful. They actually describe the action, as opposed to chatting wiith the other commentators about about trivia.
Watch the ABC crap? Never.
As a NYC res who was here for the full glory of watching the towers fall, of waiting for clearance to get in my apartment on 9/11, these bastards can go screw themselves. Or George Bush or whoever is paying for this complete fuck.
