  •  I'd rather leave it to (3+ / 0-)

the individual than to a judge or a govt. Do you really want someone with Bush's I.Q. (about the same as his penis measurement) making that choice?

If you did your homework, and bothered to check the facts (as I did), you would know that 88% of abortions are performed by the 12th week.  The 6% who wait for 13-15 weeks, do so because they couldn't afford to pay for an abortion. That is WELL before the time of viability.  If you want to keep abortions to the first trimester, I suggest donating to groups who help poor women pay for them--in other words, put your money where your mouth is.

For post-viability abortions, I suggest you read Mary Scott's brilliant piece here.  She tells it like it is. I have a relative who had to have a post-viability abortion.  Her fetus was anencephalic, and could not survive outside the wolf. On the advice of her priest she waited two months--to the 7th month--to give it a chance at life .  That meant two more months of risking her life with the possibility of toxemia (she'd had it with both prior pregnancies). Her story is typical of women who have alte term abortions--either their life or health is at risk, or the fetus won't survive because of massive and multiple medical issues.
