We knew 2007 was going to be ugly, but I don't think we expected a year-long blowout with both chambers of Congress in Democratic hands.
FWIW, I haven't voted anything other than "No Freakin Clue" in the straw polls....I might even do a "No Freakin Clue for President" snark diary at some point....

I plan on reregistering. I am currently a registered democrat, but the day after the NY primary, I'm going to register as an unaffiliated voter. I would do it today, except I can't vote for Hillary so I want someone--preferably Dodd or Edwards--to be the candidate. The problem I have is that if the democratic leadership enforced the subpoenas, held tough on FISA and the funding for the Iraq occupation, backed up Stark, etc., they would have much more support from the base and independents. Instead, they seem to have adopted the strategy of lying low, doing nothing and assuming, probably correctly, that the republican brand is shit so they will win more seats just by running on the "we aren't republicans" platform. What bothers me is that if they were strong and acted as a true opposition party, I really think they would see a landslide in 2008. I assume the corporate money is clouding their vision, and that worries me. In any event, I just don't want to be emotionally involved in this any more. I've had enough.

Republicans light, tastes great, less filling.
This makes about as much sense as Mike Huckabee on mescaline. - Prodigal 2-6-2008

Nice Nancy and Happy Harry could be raising a shitstorm about those, but instead they're too busy kneecapping Iraq doves.
