  •  I don't get the outrage about "Democrat party" (0+ / 0-)

I know the background on it... but it just seems like in the past year, it's become this huge "insult". Why do people make such a huge deal about it? To me, it doesn't make me think of "bureaucrat" at all (and that doesn't seem like a big insult, either). I could be wrong, but it seems like people are using the "Democrat party" term a lot more NOW than they did a couple years ago, simply because we're whining about how it's an insult.

Before I learned that it is supposedly an insult, I just figured that the speakers were just lazy and had a poor grasp of the English language.

Now, a lot of liberals have gone overboard, calling out each other when anything that might sound like a slight reference to this is used. For example, some people get "offended" by the word "Democrats". I think we're going overboard in sensitivity, and actually creating a way for them to insult us. When we focus on a silly terminology slight, it diverts our attention away from things that are truly egregious.

Personally, I think "Rethug" and now "Republicon" are much more revealing and effective as insults.

I remember a time when the American President was the leader of the free world. ****** Repeat after me: "Neoconservatism has failed America."
