I'm not a republican, so whatever Reagan told them, doesn't apply to me. I'm a 72 year old liberal MFer. I'm stubborn. I manned picket lines, fought with baseball bats against corporate goons, I went to jail marching and got hit on the head by cops wielding black jacks and batons for civil rights. I wore the uniform of the US Navy. I've seen battles, buried loved ones and raised a family. No one, I mean no one tells me what to say, when to say it or how to say it. No one tells me I can't complain about any politician, republican or democrat. As long as this old MFer has breath in his lungs, I'll say any damn thing I want to.

ever read! Thank you for everything you've personally done for all of us. And I hope you have many many more years to keep telling it like it is!

Keep saying anything you want...
All I ask, is that, when you run for president... don't echo the right wing echo chamber by attacking the front runner's character and try to use dirty tricks and personal attacks like Edwards is...
That brings us all down...
That's all...
Thanks,
Mike

I don't echo anyone. I'm wrong a lot. My wife constantly reminds me of everything I've ever done wrong. But this is one time I'm not wrong. This spin about anyone saying anything against Clinton is echoing the republican echo chamber is flat out wrong. I don't really give a damn who is president. I've survived Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagan and this clown. Believe me, I'm not going to be on any of these candidates guest lists for dinner.
This concerted effort on the part of her supporters to lay this republican talking points crap will backfire. It's no skin off my back because my vote wont count. I live in Philly. That primary is the end of April, it'll be all over by then. Be careful how you win this nomination. You'll alienate everyone who is against her now. More than 50% of the democrats do not want her as president. You better think of that before you play those cards with the rest of the grass roots. Not everyone is that naive.
by tazz on Fri Nov 16, 2007 at 05:00:03 PM PDT
...or detractors... we're talking about other candidates...
Wail way on her... I have... that's fine...
But, when you are running for president, remember, you carry the mantle for the party...
I don't like her... I wish we had better choices...
And I am very concerned about the fact that the grassroots hates her...
But, anyways, I'm just saying that the other candidates should have some decorum and realize that every attack on her is an attack on the democratic party.

I am taking a dkos break as of now.
I knew it could get bad on this blog but I wasn't prepared for all these hateful anti-Hillary Clinton diaries and comments yesterday and today.
I find it esp. sad how the Clinton supporters on this blog en large have been attacked in various diaries and comments as well.
The one post-debate diary telling everyone that Clinton supporters are not Real Democrats received over 500 recs? Its unvelievable. Its wrong.
And I don't want to be part of this kind of thing. If the MSM is quoting dkos bits in the coming campaign year, they wont be quoting me.
by FelisRufus on Sat Nov 17, 2007 at 01:41:31 AM PDT
that surprises me as you have defended her many times on several diaries, I do believe? I had just assumed you were a Hillary supporter?

"enthusiastically" would vote for HC. Surprise, surprise.
sorry, I am just cruising by and remembered reading this v. recently but can't give the link right now
but it can't be too difficult to google and see ...
and what grass roots are concerned ...
I know plenty of v. committed nononsense liberals of all ages w. plenty of political knowhow and life experience who don't have a clue when I tell them what is going on on so-called liberal blogs and some roll their eyes but couldn't care less
there is real life and there is blog life
"grass roots" means all kinds of things to diff. people
it all depends ....
over and out.

are voting for Obama. He just won the latest Iowa poll by double digits (double and triple Hillarys) to the Republican candidates. Hillary was low single digits and actually lost to McCain. Maybe that is a "tad" worrisome for the Democratic Dictators. They would rather try for the 51% majority and it won't fly in Florida. She will not receive the crucial "swing" votes.
I trust Barack Obama.

I bow at your feet. My Mom is 72 and she sounds like you. Except she has an austrian accent. Doesn't know what a DVD is and never even had a VCR. Or a credit card. She can't work the microwave so threw it out. It took me ten years to convince her to get an answering machine and then she only has one because I bought it for them and plugged it in and it took her a couple of years to learn how to use it. My Dad says it's stupid and he refuses to listen to messages. He said if someone wants to talk to him, they should keep calling and not call when he's not home. I tried to buy them a cell phone for emergencies but my Dad said that's what pay phones are for and I say but Dad they're hard to find now and he looks at me like I'm an idiot so we leave it at that. And then my Mom hates Bush so much that she actually starts shaking her fist in the air. Just waving it around calling him a Devil. I laugh every time. My Dad yells "Bush is the Taliban" to anyone who will listen and we have to always go "yeah!!!" and pretend it's the first time we heard it. Then he goes into a tirage about "bush the bastard taliban" and we're all like "yeah!". And he also said the microwave gave him radiation poisoning when it was on and he stil feels it. Okay. I know this is not you. And I know my parents come across as a little crazy. They are not. They are two most intelligent beautiful people on this planet. They truly are. The really did get off a boat in 1951, but they became the two most educated Amerians concerning politics and history I ever met. People just have a hard time understanding my Dad. His accent actually got stronger I think.
And the reason i'm responding is because I try to get my mom to on the PC so she has an outlet but she still is in utter awe of a fax machine and calls computers Crazy machines...so that's not working. I wish they had friends like you because all their friends are republicans and they fight with them all the time and then my Dad banishes them from the house for a week or so.
You are the most awesome MFer. Thank you.
"Oh no...you changed your hair color? It's just so dark. You like it? And with your skin tone?" My Beloved Mom, December 25 2007, once again on notice.

I used to kinda laugh at my parents always paying by cash or check. Look who's laughing now as America is in a debt meltdown. The only interest my parents ever paid was on their 15 thousand dollar morgage.
by Christin on Fri Nov 16, 2007 at 05:21:58 PM PDT
My dad, who passed away a few years ago, used to talk about how he did not own an
Answering Machine, cell phone, computer, DVD player, CD player, or most anything electronic except a TV and VCR ( and he only bought the VCR because he found out Mom would like one ).
But my Dad did have a credit card..so I applaud you for not having one. Granted, Dad always paid the balance every month and he only got one for the reward points toward buying a new GM car. But he never paid interest as he paid all his bills on time for his entire 74 years.
