I mean, who wants to be in charge when the whole thing implodes?????
It's as if the Repubs and Dems are playing hot potato.

there is a malaise in the air. Tonight the circle K guy was talking about $99 barrel of oil and the steady decline of the value of a dollar. He said he wasn't smart but felt like the "adults need to start thinking about what is going on". Stroke a wierd chord in me and the other's in line.

There is a crying need for political leaders who lead with basic issues like energy sustainability, fiscal responsibility (hey, we're spending the SS trust fund, who cares, tra la la ...) and so on.
But where are the D's?
The support of the circle K guy and many others awaits.
Like the diarist, I am really disappointed. I want a good Congress as much as a good president, or more. The current strategy of "let's wait til we win the white house" leaves me way cold.

playing to win.
They're being conservative.
In their minds, if they simply do nothing about anything, they've done nothing that anyone could get upset with.

and the need felt by many in both parties that military action is required to control our oil access. They see what happened to Great Britain when they were slow to move from coal. End of Empire. Potato, potato.

and why would they
Why would they want to impeach him or win an election. R's are praying that they can hold it together long enough to dump it all in the D's laps. They are retiring in droves with IOUS from every major profitable corporation here and abroad.
Their work is done here. Time for the big payday. Meanwhile the D's seem to get startled by their own shadows. So why so blue? Can't be a D and Blue and be depressed for Christ sake.
Hey we still got a bunch of Nukes we can sell!
