right now, Huckabee stands a good chance of walking away with the nomination - and from everything I hear, he might then very well become a real contender.
Damn George Bush! Damn everyone that won't damn George Bush! Damn every one that won't put lights in his window and sit up all night damning George Bush!

not necessarily because I think he'd make the most formidable opponent, but because he's a true believer... and his beliefs are fucking crazy.
I'm a MAN, baby!

He's talking about fair trade (but if you'll buy that from a Republican you'll buy anything), and he talks a good game on compassion, but he's running as The Real Conservative, and I think that's how most Republicans who like him think of him.

Anyone who is an ordained baptist minister would have a hard time getting elected president. If Huckabee is the nominee for the Republicans, the Democrats will an even larger share of the Jewish vote than they normally do. For just as many Christians wouldn't vote for a rabbi for President, many Jews will not vote for a minister.

A lot of Jews seem to fall for the evangelical love of Israel... unfortunately, my grandmother among them.

I hear the other folks commenting downthread, but I guess fundies just give me the creeps - it's a visceral thing. Brownback used to be the one I was worries about most, now it's Huck.

the problem with Huckabee is that he can come across as more reasonable than his views actually are. I hope we expose that thoroughly if he's their nominee.

Who does NOT believe in evolution: I am shocked that multiple hands of republican candidates would go up for that, Huckabee included. That shit don't fly, not even in Kansas.

him in the General. As depressing as it is I'm pretty sure I've read the majority of Americans either don't believe in "evilution" or believe in a partial and unscientific version of it. I actually think, electorally speaking, the extreme views on social issues and other theocratic tendencies are probably more important (at least outside of already rather blue states).
