In your face, no holds barred.
No one, I mean no one in this primary race is as strong and direct as Edwards. This is exciting.

It's certainly better than having a class Neville Chamberlaine waving a class Mucich Peace Accord. (Sorry for the Nazi reference, but I can't find another comparison with nearly the same clarity.) The aggressors in the class warfare business have always been the Republicans, with elitist tax cuts under Ronald Reagan and George Dubya Bush.

JRE absolutely brings it in this speech. "Tear down the wall" is a powerful metaphor coming down the home stretch to Iowa.

I'm old enough to remember the speeches by Bobby Kennedy. Listening to Edwards speech was; in style, fervor and content; was much like hearing Bobby speaking with a Southern accent. Tragically for the country, a political assassination prevented him from winning the nomination and thus, the presidency, and Nixon went on to become president.

media feeding frenzy about that poor slob who should be in a mental hospital? That has nothing to do with the issues that concern Americans in the upcoming election, except that the poor slob should be protected from himself in an appropriate mental health care institution funded by universal health care.
by unclejohn on Fri Nov 30, 2007 at 01:20:55 PM PDT
away from this tragedy is the need for universal healthcare with no exclusion for mental illness.
by grannyhelen on Fri Nov 30, 2007 at 02:19:07 PM PDT
A lot of mentally ill people feel they have to cover up their troubles because society refuses to understand. In the wake of Columbine, we should have done more to prevent bullying than we've done. This macho attitude is seriously weakening the fabric of our society.

Edwards almost as a rule, Gwen Ifill tonight, discussing the Iowa race, blurted out something like "and Edwards gave a powerful speech this morning..." Thanks, Gwen, for at least trying to bring it afloat.
