Off topic, I have to tell you how much I love DVR. You were the one who first suggested I get TIVO and you were right. Turns out, I didn't have to get TIVO, DVR came with my cable package, but it's truly great.
I can't root for Vanderbilt but I will say, I think it's important to be loyal to the alma matter. USC has all this Trojan rah, rah stuff and it kinda annoys me. I'm a Colonial damnit!

I can record Ina Garten and watch it whenever I feel like it. Same with Law and Order and any other tv shows I like. I record almost everything I want to see now and it's a cinch to do.
So anyway I may be working for Hilary soon. This is an exciting prospect. She's really not perfect on a lot of issues but overall she'd make the best president. She's also led and been great on enough issues for me to overlook some other areas where I'm not a fan. I just hope I don't jinx the campaign. To balance me out though, another friend may be getting hired as an Iowa staffer soon and she was a loyal Kerryite even during the dark days of his campaign in late 2003. So, hopefully we'll balance each other out.

I went to high school nearby. Forty years ago, they probably didn't have any Jews, let alone a really nice Hillel house!
Then again, you probably can remember having winning seasons in football...

They had a damned good basketball team. There were plenty of Jews - they had their own fraternity. I was "rushed" by other fraternities, but refused to join them when I found out that they excluded Jews.
The Jewish fraternity didn't invite me to the second round of "rush week" - anyway, I didn't pledge at all. I didn't miss much, as far as I can tell.
One of the Jews on campus was Randy Cohen. He now writes "The Ethicist" in the New York Times Sunday Magazine. He only went to Vanderbilt for one year. He was in my Western Civ discussion group. Removing Western Civ from the required curriculum was the downfall of Vanderbilt. Within two years, one met students who had never heard of Plato.
Football was a chance to go to a stadium and pass along a flask. Set-ups (Coke and 7-up) were sold by passing vendors.
