out soberdad's car at 11:00 last night and mine this morning.
And our happy story is good news from soberdad's oncologist on Wednesday. All looks good and he's bumped back to a 6 month follow up.

WOW, that is great news.
You guys were hammered yesterday. We ended up with about 5" BUT...sunday is looming large with big winds and heavy snow. So what was that about global warming...snark...
My memory of a big snowstorm is from Baltimore in the late 50's. We were bundled into the car and camped at my grandmas house for days because she had a gas stove so we could be warm at least. It was a row house full of multi generations of family and some good cooks were in residence. I don't know if it was just because I was little or not but it sure seemed like a lot of snow! We had no power for days and those folks did not know anything about snow removal. To this day, my 80 something parents go into panic mode whenever the forecast is for snow, even after living in Maine for 10 years! They stock up on the most obscure things, and then the plows come 'round and all is well.
Well, as long as you don't count the big ice storm of 1998, that was the exception to the norm...;-D

people still freak in Baltimore if anyone mentions snow. All things white (bread, milk, TP) disappear from the groceries 3 days in advance. It's as ingrained as Old Bay is.
But row houses are great places to be when it's cold. When we lived in one, the spouse would go down and shovel out the 85+ year old woman who lived 2 doors away. We lived in a middle of group house and it always stayed warmer with only the front and back exposures.
We're expecting ice and snow tomorrow. Gotta go check on the TP stores myself.

when it snowed every Tuesday (?) for about 6 weeks in a row, and they let school out early. In those days mom didn't work, and she picked us up. The sixth Tuesday they should have ignored the snow, because it turned to rain in the afternoon. I don't remember being without electricity for days, except for Hurricane Hazel in 1954. ........... We're in south Florida where it was 80º today, and the dew point is 72º :–p. This is our last winter as snowbirds. We're selling, and bailing out, before this state disappears in Davey Jones' locker. We're planning to move to Maine!

2 feet of snow with intense lightning. We had a friend with a Bronco that got us home. It all melted 3 days later.

Six months' follow-up is a good thing! May all subsequent follow-ups be farther and farther apart until you no longer need an oncologist!
