it was a pretty well coordinated and spinned assault. There seemed to be a common theme to thwart TPM's diary.

there had already been several diaries before that, in which the arguments had already become heated. So it was a topic that was well primed for just such a response -- when diary after diary is written on a topic that gets people worked up, each is going to involve angrier comments than the last on all sides. That's been true here for a long time.

i accept the "I was really angry and thus dismiseed racism" defense. I believe Michael Richardson tried that route.
However, if that is the case, perhaps when they calm down they can write an "I'm sorry if my comments made in anger helped to pour fuel on the racism fire" diary.
