to vote in their primary in michigan?
This primary can't end soon enough. Too many stupid people saying stupid things. - kos

It's completely open. When you vote, you get a ballot that contains all the Republican names AND all the Democratic names, with instructions that you can only pick one candidate from EITHER column.

very interesting, thanks. we don't do it that way here in New Jersey.

same if I had the chance.
Make those Repugs weep for me!
(By the way, Paul had a LOT of support in West Michigan as we drove out of sight. Merry Christmas to all. And to all a Good Night!)

On my drive to work in the morning, I pass no fewer than THREE homemade Ron Paul 2008 signs on the side of the roads, painted onto businesses and barns. With Michigan not requiring Republican status to vote in the primary, and Democrats being disenfranchised, Ron Paul has a reallly big shot to win Michigan, at least more than any other state.

Hmm, MI has been known to do some pretty weird stuff.
Republicans don't have 60 votes, and it doesn't seem to bother them one bit.

Impeach Bush signs vs. Ron Paul signs are running about 22,000 for to one against, heh.
I was 'uncommitted' for some time, but now think this may be a better overall result, seeing as Edwards won't put his name on the ballot.
Thanks for the idea!
Cheers.

...well I suppose if you can't vote for the candidate you want, voting to help make sure the other side's candidate is the 'batshit insane' option is also a good option. :)

how do you figure that Clinton rigged MI? I haven't been following it closely enough to see that.

She didn't really. More that she took advantage of an opportunity in which all the major dem candidates (Edwards, Obama, Richardson, etc.) took their names off the Michigan primary ballot. Hillary implied she too was going to do this, and pledged not to campaign here, etc., but by the time the deadline rolled around, Hillary thought it'd be best to stay on, seeing the advantage of being the only major candidate on the ballot and, if Michigan got to keep its delegates, she'd pick up a lot of votes from the 8th most populous state. :)

Behind the Michigan Primary Moves
The industrialized midwest has born the brunt of trade, trickle down, union busting, and loss of high wage jobs with good medical benefits. Yet, it has no say about any of that or who the hell is President. Remember, it was Willie who passed NAFTA with help from the Republicans against Democrats and the unions. For this reason, I support MI rocking the boat. Because it will help Hillary, I'm pissed. How's that for mixed emotions?
by dkmich on Sun Dec 02, 2007 at 02:43:02 PM PDT
I'm from boring old WA, and in the hills to boot (it's so red out here that, as far as I know, there won't even be a candidate for WA05).
But this is something that's been bothering me. Wasn't NAFTA actually written under Bush I? The reason I ask is that I remember writing an attack on it when I was taking the Foreign Service Exam (I didn't really want the job, obviously). Did Clinton have a choice? Aside from vetoing it, of course. Rather than explaining it all, how's to simply point me at a source? My excuse is that I was in Russia from '92-97, way back of beyond where there effectively was no news.

Clinton ACTIVELY PUSHED more than one piece of Reagan's dreams. Clinton is a Reagan Democrat.
