Recently someone told me that ALL new cell phones have GSP in them. At the time I thought, hmmmph, what if I feel like turning it off? Is that illegal. After tonight, however, I have to admit it would help police get to me faster if I am in real trouble.
With the Blackberry, I imagine you could have gotten yourself out of the situation. Actually, maybe I could have since my phone is supposedly able to connect to the web but I have no idea how and it didn't even occur to me. When I got home and looked on googlemaps, the map was not fully up-to-date. Some cul-de-sacs that I remembered driving down weren't even on the map. So that might not have done it. No moon or stars, either, so I couldn't tell which way I was going.
Hope your wrist gets better soon!

the gps device in our car! We are on an island. The gps quits when we start onto the causeway. It's really creepy to be driving and the gps shows only a blue field. Glug.....

rest of us to think of all you folks watching something inside the car instead of the road.
Oh man, that's scary.
Be good to each other. It matters.

I noticed. Or you could scold me for not enjoying the scenery of white caps, pelicans and windsurfers for the moment.

the one of you that's driving never looks at the thing while moving?

your car, while driving? Do you change stations or tapes or CDs? Do you look in the rear-view mirror? Get a life.

and I'm glad Halcyon was being safe.
You can scold me, though, because I was driving with the phone plastered to my ear. I even said I might have trouble in the snow to the police person and she said to go ahead and put the phone down if I had to concentrate on not getting stuck in snow. My state still has no law against using a hand-held cell while driving; otherwise I suppose she could have told me to come on down to the jail and get arrested.
But you'll be happy to know I do have a headset; I was just getting slightly panicked and had forgotten it was in the car.
