intervening years, noweasels. It always troubles me to read of abuse like this. I'm glad to see that you've turned your attention to helping assure that other abused women and their children can find their way out.

I am so very blessed and lucky. I have a nice home and a terrific job, and I am so very grateful. I didn't want to write this, but I had to, because so many women, I think, feel trapped and ashamed . . . I felt that way, but I got out, because I was lucky. I hope to help others get out, too. Bless you.

Your courage -- then and now -- is inspirational. I hope it spreads (both the courage and the inspiration).

It was hard to write. It is hard to admit that I got myself into that mess and, worse, stayed in it for several years. But I know how hard it is to escape an abuser, no matter what your inner and outer resources are, so I thought I should share my story. Bless you.

it unfolded, just as the rest of our lives do. We roll with the punches, literally and figuratively.
You are not at fault. You were in love, you had hope, you tried to make the relationship work. All of those things are normal.
When one hears, day in and day out, that one is worthless and lower than pond scum, we start to believe it. Lawyer, IT executive, police officer, teacher, clerk, educated, uneducated, smart, not-so-smart: those things make no difference.
Be kind to yourself, noweasels. Fill up that hole that dug at your soul with love, warmth and caring. You just gave some more of yourself by writing this beautiful, revealing, painful diary. Thank you. Now it's your turn to get a little sugar in return.
We care. Here's a start:

made me cry. I'm so glad you could extricate yourself from this, and you do seem so happy with your current life. You know, the thing that occurs to me to say to you when you talk about feeling ashamed is just forgive yourself. Sociopaths are very charming and you just got fooled. Forgive yourself. That's all.
I feel so honored to know you and have you participate in the Pretty Bird Woman House project.
Namaste.

I think I have forgiven myself ~ well, 90 percent or so. There's still that nagging voice that says, "how could you have been so stupid?" ~ but it's much quieter than it used to be.
