in AOL you can set up the software to use a calling card, it's within the dialing or calling location options. The different steps may vary depending on the version of AOL that you are using. Here is a good place to get started. Hope that helps.

I wouldn't try to go through the troubles of setting up network or dial-up connections. May end up pulling out all of your hair. Just stick to AOL.
