I hope you see that man soon again. I hope him & his sons are doing well. I swear to you, the Edwards supporters are some of the most soulful people I've ever encountered. Thank you for all you do.

I'm so tired of the religious intolerance being 'preached' by the right wing political Christians. Your story this morning however, was moving in the way that Jesus's teachings touch many in the world. Thanks for your example leisure. I applaude you and I will contact the Edwards campaign to donate and volunteer. It would be the best that I can do for Mary's little boy.

I am so tired of the pompous religious 'telling' me about their 'religious experience'. Show me. Show me by your actions. I don't want to 'hear' bout it I want to see it. Most religious people would say I am not their 'religious equal' and I thank God for that. I do more without mentioning it to anyone than they do in a lifetime. I don't need the 'experiences' I see on the TV shows. I'm way too busy for that.

I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day; I'd rather one should walk with me than merely tell the way. The eye's a better pupil and more willing than the ear, Fine counsel is confusing, but example's always clear; And the best of all the preachers are the men who live their creeds, For to see good put in action is what everybody needs. I soon can learn to do it if you'll let me see it done; I can watch your hands in action, but your tongue too fast may run. And the lecture you deliver may be very wise and true, But I'd rather get my lessons by observing what you do; For I might misunderstand you and the high advice you give, But there's no misunderstanding how you act and how you live. When I see a deed of kindness, I am eager to be kind. When a weaker brother stumbles and a strong man stays behind Just to see if he can help him, then the wish grows strong in me To become as big and thoughtful as I know that friend to be. And all travelers can witness that the best of guides today Is not the one who tells them, but the one who shows the way. One good man teaches many, men believe what they behold; One deed of kindness noticed is worth forty that are told. Who stands with men of honor learns to hold his honor dear, For right living speaks a language which to every one is clear. Though an able speaker charms me with his eloquence, I say, I'd rather see a sermon than to hear one, any day.

Thank you for sharing this story - and thanks for reminding all of us that walking the walk is as important as talking the talk. I'll be walking for(and donating to) the Edwards campaign - the only candidate who has shown he understands the plight of the poorest Americans.
Great diary.

because I believe he will fight like hell for us. America needs someone to never let up the fight on UHC. It's going to be a huge struggle and we need someone who can take them on, and someone who isn't afraid of pissing off the lobbyists.
