  •  Equating biodiesel with waste veggie oil (1+ / 0-)

is something that's a real pet peeve of mine.

WAY too many people think that "biodiesel" is all made from WVO (waste veggie oil).

    It is not.

Commercial grade biodiesel is NOT made from waste oil.

Don't get me wrong I think making your own biodiesel is a wonderful thing.  But it's not something you HAVE to do if you want to go biodiesel.  In fact, I'd sorta recommend against it, because it's a real pain in the ass and it produces byproducts that are almost impossible to get rid of.  Also there's some real poisonous shit that you deal with in order to make the biodiesel.

If more people were aware that you can leave it to the pros and simply buy biodiesel made from fresh vegetable oils, more people would be switching over to it.

Like I said, it's a pet peeve.  I hate to see people misinformed about something that could be and should be drastically changing diesel use in our country.

but I'll admit I don't know very much about it at all

I also know you don't HAVE to make your own biodiesel if you want to run it. But I also know it's not widely available commercially at this time.
