By the way, there's absolutely ZERO proof for this. All we have is blind speculation from the Islamic Republic for Holocaust Denial.

next thing, you're going to be accused of anti-anti-semitism!

is it possible for there to be one single diary in the history of dkos dealing with israel in which someone does not preemptively play the anti-semitism card?

That whoooooooooshing sound was the joke flying overhead.
by Paul in Berkeley on Tue Mar 06, 2007 at 04:20:54 PM PDT
because it reads like your "joke" is that dkos is so full of anti-semites that one can't even harmlessly needle iran's leadership for its holocaust denial without being attacked for it.
hilarious.

I'm making fun of the people who always preface their comments with "nobody can criticize Israel without being called anti-semitic" or "I'm sure I'll be called anti-semitic for saying this, but..."
Whoooooooooshhhhhhh!

somehow, the diarist left this out...
One respected analyst with sources in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard told ABC News, however, that the general has defected with his family and is now in a European country where he is cooperating with the U.S. Asgari's years with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and the defense ministry would make him an invaluable source of information. He was reportedly based in Lebanon in the 1990s and was in charge of ties with the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah.

he may have been spying for the US or Israel, and was either about to be exposed or we wanted him to fully debrief us as part of the run-up to an attack on Iran.

I've OD'd on long diaries others wrote today. Saw this bit of news and felt it merited attention.

$100 that I can't really spare, that this unnamed 'respected analyst with sources in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard' is none other than Michael Ledeen.
Sheesh. When will we stop giving credence to obvious propaganda? The US does not have any analysts with 'sources in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard'. That's why they're just making shit up.

Your link:
Iran's official news agency, IRNA, reported today that Iran's top police chief accused Western intelligence agencies for Asgari's disappearance. Police Commander Brigadier General Esmaeil Ahmadi-Moqaddam said that Asgari was probably kidnapped by agents of secret services from Western countries, according to IRNA
I've no doubt that many in the Muslim world (wrongly) believe Israel and Jewish folks to be the authors of all evil in the world.
But that's not what this story says. IRNA accuses western powers, not Israel.
Any direct statement from Iran blaming Israel?
by kidneystones on Tue Mar 06, 2007 at 03:26:52 PM PDT
speculating that it's Israel.
Good catch.
Somehow, I doubt there'll be a war over this.

Iran's beef with the US is way bigger than their beef with Israel. I'm not surprised.
