Green Power Switch Units in Tennessee cost $4 per 15 kwh. That's the $432 per month for 108 units. He still has to pay for the electricity, at about 9 cents per kwh. If he uses all of the 108 units, then that is about 16,000 kwh per month. At 9 cents each that's about another $1500.

Actually it sounds like he would have paid roughly 7.5 cents per kilowatt hour assuming the AP's numbers are right (~$1,200 a month), and then an additional $424 (or so) on top of that each month to put that much green power into the system. But is that the idea?

I did a quick estimate using my bill. I use the provider adjacent to his.

call
TVA 865-632-2101
and ask for the Green Power Switch number. Ask Jo Lynn.

I already know the answer. Green Power Switch is not a provider of electricity. Gore's provider is Nashville Electric Service. The GPS cost is an add-on. I am sure that your intentions are good, but the diary is just wrong, and we need to get it off of the top of the rec list, and get people to stop spreading this misinformation.

it is a program of the TVA that allows people to support green power producers. GPS is NOT, I repeat NOT Al Gore's energy provider! "Jo Lynn" is a representative of a TVA program, not a sales rep from a power company!

That Jo Lynn was speaking only for the GPS portion of the bill and that it covered all of his electric bill, but not that it was his entire electric bill.
Whatever. It's still more than I do for my electricity, except most of mine is coming from hydro already, and our electric COOP has an interest in a wind farm project that is currently about to start building.
Kudos to Al.

Your diary is wrong, it's been pointed out ad infinitum, and instead of changing it, you put up a lame 'whoopsy' at the bottom, and then went to bed.
Uncool in the extreme. You wrote the damn diary, you have a responsibility to get it right or we ALL get tarred with your poorly researched brush.
Fool me once, I'll punch you in the fucking head.
