Coulter's "Macaca moment" spurs newspapers to drop column In the wake of right-wing pundit Ann Coulter's recent remarks at the Conservative Political Action Conference about Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, at least three newspapers -- The Lancaster New Era (Pennsylvania), The Oakland Press (Michigan), and The Mountain Press (Sevierville, Tennessee) -- have decided to drop Coulter's nationally syndicated column from their opinion pages, according to an article on Editor & Publisher's website. I got the Media Matters list second hand through HRC, and it forms the basis of mine. There are problems with some of their contacts and e-mail addresses. But, thanks for directing me to their full list. I'll work on verifying the contacts, adding snail mail info, etc., and do an update.
Even though they now have more than the original 9, it is still far short of the 100 the syndicate claims to be feeding. So, I hope folks will check their local papers for me.
