    (about the military being integrated before the rest of the country) but integration doesn't equate with non-discrimination.

      but I can honestly say  I saw Asian and African Americans and Latinos doing pretty well--my husband worked for chiefs who were all 3.  I lived in housing with Asian and African and Hispanic Americans--no problems.

      I think the fact that they've allowed some White Supremacists in has contributed toward the negative impression. And impressions of discrimination are almost as bad as the real thing. What I actually saw was  more negativity toward women than any other group.  We were in Japan for 7 years, and it seemed like every month or two there was another rape or sexual harassment case where the defense consisted of "Who you gonna believe? This CPO with 14 years in the service or these four girls just out of A school?  All too often, it worked.

      The last time we mixed religion and politics people got burned at the stake.
