The Clintons aren't rookies--this is their 3d national campaign. They know exactly what they're doing.
The 1 thing that they're inexperienced at is a tough intraparty fight. Their leading opponents in '92 were Paul Tsongas and Jerry Brown. They faced no primary challenge in '96. They've never had to use these tactics against another Dem before.
If the Clintons didn't like the way that their campaign is being waged, it wouldn't be waged that way.
Some men see things as they are and ask why. I see things that never were and ask why not?
