Comments: Expand Shrink Hide (Always) | Indented Flat (Always)
Do you really think people who intend to be Democrats for just one day will go through all the trouble to switch parties and vote and then switch back? Just for a prank? I doubt it.
But the campaign is catchy enough that it may induce Independents leaning towards Obama to register as Dems, vote Obama, and stay registered. Don't let the "pitch" fool you into thinking that this is actually about Dems for a day. Obviously Obama's supporters would rather have new Dems for life than Dems for a day, and that's what this is about.

made Barry Goldwater the Republican nominee, and they had to re-register 90 days ahead of time.
Sen Obama really ought to be trying to persuade real Democrats to vote for him and to vote for the Democratic candidate in November whoever it may be.

Find something serious to talk about.

At least none other than that stinking up this diary.
The precinct captain isn't lying and does not appear to be caught in a lie.
There is no doo-doo involved.
For the record, here's what the Obama campaign said from TPM:
"We've learned that one individual who volunteers for the campaign was making the flyer and we've instructed him to stop creating and distributing it. But make no mistake, we want as many independents and Republicans to become Democrats and help to build a new governing majority in this country."
