Good Morning and Happy Monday. I hope you had a good weekend. I know I didn’t. Yesterday I was downtown at the crack of dawn and I caught a few photos of one of the few times of the week when Manhattan doesn’t seem crowded.
Sunrise over Central Park
A little shadow play on Broadway
A shaft of light on the Ansonia
Brownstones
Another early riser
I had a seemingly important announcement to make for Rum and coke Friday but tragedy struck. I was all set to post a little comment about the fact that I would be playing with a full deck on Saturday but it just didn’t seem right.
I can’t let a year go by without posting my birthday so let me just say that on Saturday I turned Fifty-two.
Have a great week and a gentle Monday.

And their ephemeral blaze of glory, that summer when they were the hottest band on the planet. I went to the Palladium that summer to watch them jam;
I can’t remember exactly how but that band introduced me to Fritz Lang's METROPOLIS. It was a long time ago and I’m still planning to see that movie.
Maybe now with your reminder.

I'd nearly forgotten them. I really was into them back in the day. They got me into Cocteau (an intriguing quote on the Axe Victim sleeve), so while all my contemporaries were going through their Ayn Rand phase, I was going through a Cocteau phase instead. I think I got the better deal. :)

Eddie. I'll be 52 on the Summer Solstice.
Thanks for the pics of Manhattan. I haven't been there much, but I like it.
I found the easiest way not to let another birthday bum me out is to start considering myself to be the next birthday's age at the 6 month point. So after December 21st, I started thinking of myself as (almost) 52. By the time the actual day comes, I've accepted my new age for several months and can enjoy the day.
