Calling the Dumbass pathetic just shows she agrees with 79% of the country.
She got points from me for that one.

The Opposition party will use that word, that moment, against her in the GE if she runs. Say he's wrong to focus on trying to obtain lower prices of oil, but to call him Pathetic will piss off Men universally. It's demeaning and dehumanizing and not worth the office she seeks to publically decry the sitting President while you seek the office.
I'd characterize it as either a Stunt or as an Overstep of Passion, both of which are problematic

The only reason I don't say what I think about the Dumbass is because with my anti-war record, I don't want the SS at my door.
He is pathetic. And the majority of the country feels that way.
Good for her.

you're not seeking to be President yourself. It's part of the culture of this country that you can criticize but still respect the current President. And it's not smart to undermine him on an international stage (and that was an attempt to embarrass him while he's overseas trying to deal with forces indifferent or hostile to the US). Being on, let's face it, international television and calling the President "pathetic" is way different that any invective you might use in the privacy of your home or even in your work place.
by ccr4nine on Wed Jan 16, 2008 at 07:33:26 AM PDT
Then she should ask the Republican opponent to provide his own adjectives to describe Bush. That would make for interesting television.
Note: the true dynamic out there is the opposite of what you describe. 2/3 of our citizens find Bush quite pathetic. For at least 1/3 of them, the word "pathetic" is charitable.

is bush a King that we might not speak evil of him? Should we fear His Mighty Wrath? I frankly don't care if the pubs use that against us. It's a political winner with the majority of the electorate and I don't care if our candidate gets hew hughit's vote or not.

I wish she had chosen an insult that made us or her sound better. Or to use a term like pathetic for a more serious affront. (In her Katrina failure response?) She'd already said he was begging before adding pathetic.
She did fine in debate but that's just explaining the discomfort with it.

many, many republicans hate him and no longer think of him as one. she has used similar language about Bush in the past, good on anyone who does, if you ask me. but how good depends on the oomph behind it, which in my formula is about 97% record, 3% speechifying...

No, they only showed the utmost respect for the office. They also kept their powder dry and impeachment off the table as well.

Pathetic is a proper description for Democrats who think that describing a war criminal as "pathetic" is beyond the Pale. There is nothing sacred about the presidency [note the noncapitalization of the office] and no downside to such a mild description of the monster who currently squats there.

did surprise me. As irritated and annoyed and just plain incensed as I've been with our sitting President, I've never called him "pathetic", never even thought of him in those terms. And it is not a smart thing to put out there for the opposition to use. Plus, for someone who wants to be President, it would seem to me to be essential to respect the office even if you don't agree with the current occupant.

not Hillary. He demeaned it by tearing up the Constitution. He demeaned it by bringing about the deaths of tens of thousands of people in a pointless war that has made us less safe and has distracted us from the real fight against the terrorists now resurgent in Afghanistan. He demeaned it by destroying our civil service and filling it with his idiot friends. He demeaned it by his callous response to Hurricane Katrina. He demeans it every time he opens his damn mouth and proves what a moron he is.
And he demeaned it by kneeling, hat in hand, in front of the misogynistic, autocratic, superstitious assholes who spread their intolerant brand of fanaticism around the world, and begging, "Please sir, can I have some more."
Bush's behavior in the Middle East was breathtaking. Even for this miserable excuse for a presidency. Calling it like it is doesn't demean the presidency. Destroying all of America's goodwill and international political capital and then begging tyrants for help, on the other hand, does.

gift of GWB to the Dems right now, the fact that whoever our nominee is, they will be able to run 100% against the last president, and be able to just trash him at any point, and it will never get old. the Repubs are distant from him, but they'll have no choice but to get into specifics about what they like about him or not, instead of just calling him a criminal stuck mentally in his late teens and emotionally just off the boob...
by itsbenj on Tue Jan 15, 2008 at 08:59:59 PM PDT
that mitten is their nominee. He's tied himself to bush with an anchor rope. So has mccain on Iraq. bush can be tied to all of them outside of huckabee and even he is vulnerable to charges of being to close to bush on certain things.
It's gonna be damn hard for them to pull a pontius pilate and wash their hands of the current adminstration. Damn hard.

I like that she asked Barack to co-sponsor her bill to require congressional approval of the treaty/agreement with Iraq.
