Al Gore publized it, but there is so much more work to do.
Every time someone who has a megaphone like Edwards or Gore his speaks the truth, it brings us a little closer to change.
The problem is, the planet literally is running out of time.
Even here, environmental diaries get minimal support. They die so fast. I combine environmental issues with a candidate diary at times, and that spreads the word a little.
Meta and snark often sells better here.
But we have to keep fighting, like you do with Greenpeace and your posts here. There is no other choice.

... the pro-nuke talking points hitting the media more and more. In some articles, it's just reporting (because of the provisions in the energy bill). But in a lot of them, it's just repeating the stuff about the inevitability of a "nuclear renaissance", which is by no means inevitable. It's unclear if it'll happen in the US soon or not. Obviously, it's happening in the UK, though.

Barack Obama Respects Your Opinion
by DJShay on Tue Jan 15, 2008 at 09:09:33 AM PDT
I probably should not have commented, but it added to the thread and made it fun for others.
It was just a quick reaction without thinking.
What I find interesting is how a few front pagers don't like candidate diaries. Not all of them. It may only be a small number of them. A couple expressed it to me personally last summer. I devine it from the comments of others.
I believe in empowerment, not puniditry.
It is far more important to me that an "ordinary" person write a comment or diary expressing her or his political views and hopes, then the best analysis available.
Both coexist here, and I do not seek to change that, but I prefer empowerment. So I think candidate diaries are great. Regular people care and get involved. They give a shit.
Itis not abstract, erudite opinion. It is argument and emotion.
Even the angry ones. I prefer civility, but at least they care.
It really does matter.
Just my preference, so I likely overeacted.
No big deal.
by TomP on Tue Jan 15, 2008 at 09:15:22 AM PDT
and absolutely no disrespect intended, but many of us, FPs or no, hate candidate diaries by now, and are counting the days until the convention. Too much of a good thing, perhaps.
by MBNYC on Tue Jan 15, 2008 at 09:21:58 AM PDT
There are a lot of them, and lately the fights over race and gender have been off putting.
It's like anything else. Balance is good.
It's also important to remember that there are many good diaries, including good candidate diaries, that make the rec list.
Your point is fair. Last summer, however, there were many fewer. I recall being so surprised when I realized after Ykos that, for a few, it was not about empowerment. I had been idealistically mistaken and caught up in Ykos fever. I believed.
It's why the left side of the page is what kept me here after November 2006. No disrespect ot the right side, and there is good stuff there often, but the intereaction on this aide of the page is why I stayed. And that was long before I chose a candidate and started writing diaries.
When I first came here, I never intended to write diaries. I was quite happy as a commenter.
And after primary season, I likely will go back to commenting far more than I write diaries.
by TomP on Tue Jan 15, 2008 at 09:28:44 AM PDT
up: I think I mean right side of the page. In addition, I missed a not.
There are many good diares that do not make the rec list, but they are worth reading.
Somedays, I get few things right.

"the other candidate is a weiner" diaries...they often inspire me to expand my culinary horizons and figure out how many ways there are to actually prepare a weiner. Thus far, I have utilized them in spaghetti and macaroni and cheese, barbecued them, chopped them up and used them in stir fry, and deep fried them.
