    how to stop McCain--urgent for us, and urgent for the Democratic candidate, whoever that turns out to be.

    I feel certain that McCain will be the nominee, and I'm terribly afraid that he'll win the general election. IMO, it's dangerously easy for many voters to think of McCain and think, "Experienced. Tried and true. Stable. Moderate. Bipartisan. Grandfatherly. Reassuring!" That's despite the low opinion that the active Republican base apparently has of him. And that's despite the horrific positions of his that can be gleaned from the most casual glance at his campaign website, and despite the negatives in his record.

    I hope to hell that Clinton, Obama, Edwards, the DNC, and every other committed Democrat has already begun to think about how to stop McCain.
