You so funny.
by Poodle Boy on Fri Jan 25, 2008 at 04:25:25 PM PDT
about Rezko.
Seriously, this is the Clinton Camp making these charges???
How many hundreds of thousands of dollars have they had to return? Hsu was wanted when they were having him host events and bundle for them for heaven's sake.
Hard to join in the faux outrage.

And my husband is president of a company and we have no idea who in the heck his staff or employees give to unless we run into them at an event.

BO: "I did five hours of work for this individual" (paraphrase)..another lie from the Obama camp. Rezko pretty much helped Obama get started in the big league. Can you spell hypocrite? And this Chicago Community Organizer supported a slumlord and took money from him, while tenants, including many poor Black individuals were freezing during a Chicago winter. How utterly disgusting. There's a lot to this story. No he might not have done anything illegal. Immoral yes.

bots unite. If he became the nominee, the rethugs would have a field day with this one. And 2/25 is the the big court case on this too.

by maineiac on Fri Jan 25, 2008 at 04:42:15 PM PDT
rightwing. EVERY president has top supporters staying at the Whitehouse. The contest for the top of the ticket has been over for a while. Obama is positioning himself for the #2 spot (hence the artificial racial rift between the 2 camps, which puts pressure on Clinton to pick him) and he might not even make that. I hope he does make it but he will have to explain himself.
Thank god it came out now and not in the general election.
by mmorang on Fri Jan 25, 2008 at 05:24:15 PM PDT
You can't obviously defend Obama on this. So you try and switch the focus to something about as significant as Edwards' haircut. Your lack of brain cells is stunning.

being in a picture with someone, even a slumlord or a criminal is not illegal.
Now taking mucho money from them...that's another thing.
Just sayin'
by Jjc2006 on Fri Jan 25, 2008 at 04:53:05 PM PDT
There has been no allegation that Rezko's contributions or Rezko co-ordinated contributions or Rezko associated contributions to Obama's campaign were illegal. The Obama campaign has redistributed the contributions to charity to avoid any appearance of an ethical conflict, which is a separate issue from whether the contributions were legal.
by Foodle on Fri Jan 25, 2008 at 05:38:59 PM PDT
Rezko's wife bought an adjacent lot to a house Obama bought. The sale was closed the same day on both properties. The seller would only sell the house with the lot. Obama couldn't afford both so Rezko bought the lot...and later sold 1/6 of it back to Obama so he could enlarge his backyard.
Check out the Rezko facts at Hillaryis44.org http://hillaryis44.org

This is the story that shows how deep the tie is between Obama and Rezko.
Hillary '08.
by Athena on Fri Jan 25, 2008 at 06:07:58 PM PDT
This shreds Obama's whole campaign theme. He's nothing special, and nothing any different than the average rethug candidate. Change and hope. A new kind of Politics. Ho hum.
by kitsapdem on Fri Jan 25, 2008 at 09:28:24 PM PDT
This is just one of hundreds of thousands of pics they have taken this way. I have a pic of me with Barry Bonds...does that mean I support steriod use?
And did she take money from Rezko? Did she buy property from Rezko? Was Rezko on her Senate Finance committee?? No. No. No.

photo was taken? Was it a state party or local candidate event? Did the money go to the DNC? Or to the Clintons themselves.
I have a photo of me with them and I gave no money, I was staff. I was about the 700th to get such a photo, after local folks who gave money to the party etc.
This is an unfortunate off-shoot of politics in America -- you need to raise a lot of money. Anyone can give it. When it is given, if the person isn't a felon, it is kept.
But there is obviously a difference between a guy getting a photo and a candidate's wife getting property right next door and the candidate doing his own legal work and his firm doing a lot more.
Anyone with any shred of genuine thought and not purely "my guy" thinking will admit that.
This looks bad for Obama. It doesn't mean it is, but it clearly looks bad. The more you say "look at that dog shit over there!!!" doesn't make the cat shit in front of you go away.
God it's so painful that something that's so close, is still so far out of reach. Tom Petty/Al Gore
by Velvet Revolution on Fri Jan 25, 2008 at 06:05:56 PM PDT
One for $700K - another for $1M - probably others.
Rezko gave about $15K to DNC in both cases. $15K certainly gets you in the "clicks" line-up ... with a bunch of other folks they wouldn't know from Adam.

Obama brags that he was the most used campaign speaker in 2006. Wonder if all the photos of folks he took are above board (not that I really give a shit as I know how this works).

photograph with lobbyist Jack Abramoff
We now know that Mr. Abramoff attended this meeting," Abney said. "The president has taken tens of thousands of pictures. This does not mean he has a personal relationship with each individual that is in those pictures."
and
Bush has said that he had his picture taken with Abramoff an unknown number of times, but he does not remember any of them.

by SaneSoutherner on Fri Jan 25, 2008 at 05:47:34 PM PDT
And neither Bush nor Abramoff nor any WH staff made any such claim.
The Bush/Abramoff photo was inside the White House, from a meeting with Abramoff clients, on Abramoff subject matter.
High-$$ funders get lined up and pushed "reception" process where they have to ID themselves, hand off any hand-carried items, step up on cue to pose (sometimes grouped with whoever was next to them in line), smile for the camera, step off and get their stuff back -- all in well under a minute a shot. If you can get off a one-liner for your favorite cause in that "access" window, you're breaking par.

I never knew you were sticking needles up your ass with Barry....I mean what else can those pics prove?
by tarheel74 on Fri Jan 25, 2008 at 05:04:34 PM PDT
want the Mr. Change and Hope who's been in bed with a slumlord for decades? I mean what's wrong with that? He was organizing these folks while they were living in Rezko's buildings, and he was getting money for his campaigns. Now that's low.

NOT.
by kitsapdem on Mon Jan 28, 2008 at 09:13:44 AM PDT
him is one thing (the Clintons haven't taken a dime from him). But purchasing property from him AFTER he was already under investigation is very questionable. Not to mention all of the donations he made to Obama. But none of this matters. Clinton is the nominee and the next pres. She will inherit a nightmare.
