is referring to the U.S. as "the homeland." It's far to reminiscent of the terminology used in Nazi Germany. I can't stand it when Democrats buy into that.

Most of these, I could care less; they're just linguistic flashes in the pan. But this "homeland" stuff is creepy, especially considering that it is literally a lie for almost all of us.
Their number is negligible and they are stupid. -- Eisenhower

Most of the terms are bad simply because they are a blatant use of the language by using a word to mean exactly its opposite. If it was up to me, politicians would be tossed out on their butts for every lie or insincere statement they make. If we can't believe them, how can they represent us?

#1 in my book. Along with Czar --WTF? And if these people are actually Czars, are they eating caviar in St. Petersburg because who the hell remembers who they are.

That one is creepy too.

I think it was Reagan with his "Drug Czar," but I have a relatively short political memory (having been just a kid in the eighties).

I can't remember hearing it before that, but I could be wrong. Of course "War on Drugs" started under Nixon. What a joke that is.

i believe the first ones were energy czars.
google turns up a few of them, including bill simon.
I am further of the opinion that the President must be impeached and removed from office!

I cringe at the term. And shudder. While rolling my eyes.
9/11 changed everything. And we're gonna change it back.

I was going to say. It would go a long way if one of the Democrats said they would abolish the name 'homeland security'. That phrase is just creepy.
When Bush visits Europe, they burn American flags and spit insults for America. When Obama visits Europe, they wave American flags and sing America's praises.

people say it. But when Dems do it, I want to run out in the street screaming uncontrollably.

"Domestic Security" means the same damned thing as "Homeland Security", yet I don't feel like I have to say Heil to the Fuhrer when I say it.

I wrote the same sentiment here before seeing your post.
"Homeland" is just inexpressibly awful. The first time I heard it I went cold.
To make it clear, I speak German, I like Germany. But this is a German phrase that harks back to the Nazis.
Nothing could have made Bushco's intentions any clearer. And "Homeland Security" certainly lived up to the expectations it's name evoked in me.

The first time I heard it, it said "Nazi propaganda" to me.

That they didn't call it the Dept. of "Fatherland" Security?
...Just looking for positives wherever I can find them, since I stopped listening around the time they said they were gonna "Restore honor and dignity to the White House."
Let's not use that phrase either (Though, of course, you just know we're gonna).
