He's not saying, "Let's rise up and take our spot at the table," it seems to me, he's saying "Let's all work together and build a bigger table."

As a white 44-yr-old woman, Obama has been my choice for years (I live in IL).  He is truly amazing.  I have had the same concerns about all my heroes being assassinated, too.

As snout said, if he has the courage to run, people will have the courage to vote for him.  And one comment in the Pride and Palpitations blog (I read the whole thing too - terrific read - loved the EWF album cover) said something like

"I'd rather die standing, than live on my knees."
