I remember a law school prof who raised my grade when I appealed. The entire grade was based on the one exam and, IMHO, he had done a terrible job of crafting one huge question. He started talking to me about the meaning of a recent big SCOTUS ruling and when he was satisfied that I understood it, he raised my grade to a B. I really appreciated that, along with his accepting some of the blame for a poorly worded question.
