Gotta get the hispanic voters registered and fired up for Obama!
Obama's my candidate! Fired up in Texas - let's turn Texas BLUE!

There needs to be a rally at UT Brownsville. Friggin' Homeland Security has plans to bulldoze through that campus, and bisect it with that ridiculous border wall thingy. There's a lot of people radicalized by that along the border. The libertarian "property rights" types have initiated a class action suit over emminent domain being exercised. It other words, a lot of fired up people.
Border mayors should meet with our candidate, too.
It's a big boondoggle for the big corporations to build it. And it won't accomplish much, and will do great harm to culture, landscape, economy, and economy of the valley.
There is a passion for change along the Rio Grande. The question is how to tap into it. I think Obama's by far the best candidate to do that.
MSNBC just saying that there's age stratification in the Latino vote. The elders and the youngers aren't voting the same.

You really think Obama would have something to say about spending our time and resources on building a gigantic wall between two communities? I mean, what is he supposed to do with that? [/snark]

Whassup with him? I'm thinking that he's the key endorsement along the border. Still uncommitted as a super delegate. His Congressional district (TX-23) is that huge swath of west Texas, and much of the border. Several of the other Reps have been on board with Hillary for awhile. But if Ciro can be convinced to come on board, it will matter where it matters.
by Land of Enchantment on Tue Feb 12, 2008 at 08:20:03 PM PDT
The netroots sure gave Ciro a lot of support during his -- what was it, three? -- campaigns since 2004. Would be nice to hear from him...
by mindoca on Tue Feb 12, 2008 at 08:26:42 PM PDT
... myself. Plus other border issues. His constituents are very unhappy with the "seal the border" chorus that's been building up. He may want to know what to expect from the candidates on that key regional issue before endorsing?
Jest guessin'...

Obama may agree with John Kerry on a lot of the issues (almost all of them, in fact), but in terms of the personal dynamic between candidate and voter, Barack is unmatchable.

One candidate in 2000 was considered stale and stodgy...the other ....people wanted to have a beer with....a fun guy, fresh, not from inside-the-beltway....modest, self-deprecating...not into nation building...
In 2004, the zippy younger candidate was so popular...while the other guy was criticized for being dull.
I'd be happy to have a highly competent but boring President for once!
P.S. The GOP 'fixed' both elections. See Greg Palast and Mark Crispin Miller.

I thought it was cedar brush, which is a far lamer target.
Mind you, I have a truly spectacular dented scar on one leg thanks to my 11-year-old self getting seriously tangled up with a dead cedar tree with nasty sharp branches. Was horsebacking riding at the time, in the woods, in shorts and flip-flops. But the POTUS uses a chain saw.
