So, your point in writing this diary was to prove, yet again, that Republicans would much, much, much rather face Hillary than Obama?
To you I say... success! Point proven!

I really think you've lost perspective on this.

is the weakest candidate against McCain. You highlight some of his most glaring negatives here that have long been a problem for me, but in addition to these, I think just by the fact that many conservatives are OK with him, raises a red flag with me. Another thing is his past statements on privatising Social Security, but to have a person with the statue of Krugman bash him like this, should make even his most lemming like supporters rethink their support of him. Paul Krugman has been the Progressives only champion at times, someone who many of the people now complaining about him, were just a little while ago praising him for standing up to bush.
Don't sell out John! Damn, too late, lost another to the dark side!

...and that remains undimmed by the nuttiness of primary season.
Nonetheless, I think anyone who thinks either of our major remaining candidates faces a serious threat in McCain, especially this election year, needs to take a step back and re-evaluate.
by Jonathan on Wed Feb 13, 2008 at 05:52:20 PM PDT
...I think Hillary will face the toughest time, simply because she'll help energize the GOP base. But "toughest" is a relative term, here.
by Jonathan on Wed Feb 13, 2008 at 05:55:46 PM PDT
say he would beat him and she would lose to him. There is not a shred of substance to suggest that she would be the stronger candidate against McCain.
cheers,

But I've gotta tell you, between the general electoral/party zeitgeist this year, McCain's lack of support among the GOP base and McCain's utter inability to deliver a moving speech, I have very little doubt that McCain will lose to whoever.
by Jonathan on Wed Feb 13, 2008 at 06:01:30 PM PDT
who really like him.

There have been several head-to-head match-up polling done already and Obama beats McCain in them, Hillary loses to him. That may change but so far there is zero evidence to suggest that Clinton would be a stronger candidate against McCain and there IS evidence that Obama would.
by Lestatdelc on Wed Feb 13, 2008 at 08:06:07 PM PDT
McCain in debates or running speeches aimed at each other. I heard McCain say (I think it was in Obama's direction) that "people didn't send us to Washington to spend their money, burnish their records..." stuff like that and I thought of all the people who want small government, less taxes, etc. What the Democrats need to do is to hang the "we can win in Iraq even if it takes decades" around his neck.

turns out they were a good investment afterall.

and they're trying to avoid doing what Sen. Clinton did -- underestimate Obama.
I don't think it's going to help McTorture either way, but your analysis is wrong. Watch my word, and whatnot.

Susan, every major poll indicates that you are wrong. You have to have at least some loose connection to reality here.
In the words of Keith Olbermann: Never let Barack Obama speak before you.
He will dominate McCain.

he's awfully good on the close.

They have been hoping and preparing to nuke Hillary for more than a decade and now they are without a game-plan because she is losing.
Go back to hacking up Clinton spin talking point ala Taylor Marsh at MyDD and the other cannibalistic Clinton zombies who only play scorched earth. Clinton is the antithesis of people-powered politics.
by Lestatdelc on Wed Feb 13, 2008 at 05:25:46 PM PDT
Air America Radio talk show host Thom Hartmann was at the CPAC meeting last week and he said they had all kinds of anti-Hillary stuff ready and waiting, and nothing about Obama. Thom Hartmann interviewed David Bossie, the guy chasing after the Clintons since the 92 campaign, and he has a new movie out called "Hillary the Movie" about to be released.

Always with the tinfoil.
Now that the Republicans are bashing Obama, you'll need to craft a new metallic lid.
Pathetic. As usual.

I don't give a damn who the Republicans want to run against. I'm supporting who I think would make a great President.
