that media Republicans like Tim Russert will be happy to play with and Democrat over and over and over again. It has nothing to do with wanting them to reject bad people and everything to do with guilt by association.

I remember back in the post-McCarty era (in the 1960s after he was dead) trying to get a Xmas job as a student delivering mail at the U.S. Post Office. I had to sign a statement saying I had never been affiliated with any of the following organizations. The list included hundreds upon hundreds of organizations with benign sounding names. I presume they were contaminated by have the third cousin of a former communist among their members. It was presumed to be a threat to the nation to have anyone delivering Christmas cards for a week or two who had accidentally gone to a meeting at such a dangerous group as the Syracuse Mothers for Peace.

Guilt by association has a long history and it is a god damn waste of everyone's time.
