I have no evidence to back this up, but I'm convinced that the polls fluctuate because of a GOTV effort. As more and more people are contacted, ID'ed and worked over by the campaigns, they become "likely voters." In other words, the numbers don't go up for Obama because Clinton people are switching, the numbers go up because he is getting more people involved in the process and making them into "likely voters."
